Mud Volcano
Fault movement causes strata fracture. Water enter the fractured part and is mixed with the bottom mudstone, forming slurry. The underground high-pressure gas ejects the slurry from the fracture, thus forming mud volcano landscape. Wushanding Mud Volcano is located in Yanchao District, Kaohsiung City. In this area, the mud volcanos are dense and mud cone is developed; due to high mud consistency, it shows spectacular scenery. To protect this special landscape, this area has been declared a mud volcano landscape natural reserve area. Through aerial photography, we can observe the environmental relationship between mud volcano and surrounding rough topography, which provide rich teaching materials for environmental education and guiding tour.
